This is a great recipe for kids lunch boxes. A healthy treat and great snack for the whole family. Perfect for those Mama's sending their kiddies to kindy/school where there are nut-free policies. This recipe is free from refined sugar, gluten, dairy and nuts. I hope you love it as much as we do! x

Now that the kiddies are back to school or kindy, its time for us Mums to get back to making lunchboxes. Like many kindy’s, Freddie’s centre has a nut free policy. Going nut free can be hard for parents. For me, most of the snacks/healthy treats that I usually make for the kids contain nuts. For those in a gluten free household, I’m sure this is the case for you too. I also haven’t yet come across nut-free bliss balls that I can purchase, but lets be honest, they’re much better home-made! So back into the kitchen I went to make a nut-free bliss ball recipe. This recipe is great for those nut-free schools/kindys and also for those families where there are nut allergies.

This recipe will bring back childhood memories! I loved Rice Bubble slice when I was growing up so I created a healthy alternative that tastes just as good. This recipe is free from refined sugar, gluten, dairy and nuts. I hope you love it as much as we do! x

I’m sure most of you remember the traditional Rice Bubble slice from when you were growing up…..?  I definitely do, especially at birthday parties. We all loved it when we were kids.  So I set out to create a healthy alternative that tasted just as good so the kids could enjoy it!  The traditional slice was made up of sugar, butter, honey and rice bubbles so I have substituted these and opted for whole food ingredients that result in a slice that kids both big and small will love.  The perfect wee snack.

This slice is another super simple recipe.  The kids will love helping to prepare it, its a great lunch box snack and its also super tasty – we all enjoy it in our household. Read More

I'm a real sucker for anything citrus so I created this tasty raw lemon slice that I know you will love.

LEMONS, LEMONS, LEMONS!!  I love citrus and in particular anything with lemons.  Lucky for me, lemons are in season at the moment and this year and our tree is full of this tasty fruit!

Last year I posted a healthy take on the traditional Lemon Slice, and previously a Lemon and Coconut slice.  So this year I wanted to experiment with a raw lemon slice and I have a found a winner.  AND it is one the whole family enjoys. Read More

This is my “go to” favourite treat that I make on a fairly regular basis.  Its another super simple healthy recipe and definitely satisfies those sweet / chocolate cravings.  Its something I always freeze and therefore have on hand for when those 3pm pangs hit.

This popular treat that my whole family enjoys is free from gluten, dairy and refined sugar so a great allergy friendly treat.  The slice requires no baking and barely any preparation as it’s predominantly made in a blender but you do have to take into consideration the chilling time. The waiting is the most difficult thing about this recipe as you just want to dig in!! Read More

Tasty, creamy and coconut-y goodness covered in homemade raw chocolate. A tasty and healthy treat - perfect to indulge yourselves!!

I know I’ve mentioned it numerous times before but I LOVE coconut. I use it in so many of my recipes and I don’t know what my life would be like without my coconut!! I’m sure I have it on a daily basis – both in savoury and sweet dishes. Stella is also taking after me and always gets the thredded coconut out of the pantry and as a result loves my coconut treats I make.

I grew up eating the sugar filled, processed Bounty Bars and decided that I’d recreate a healthier version of these – I do love recreating healthier versions of popular treats. This recipe also ticks all the right boxes – gluten free, dairy free, refined sugar free, egg free and of course super tasty! Read More

Banana Oat Cookies

Super simple and healthy Oat Cookies that the kids will enjoy making and eating.

Now firstly I want to point out that this recipe is NOT Gluten Free. Whilst I am Coeliac and most of the food eaten in our household is Gluten Free, Stella still has oats for brekkie in her Porridge and Bircher. As a result of this, I know she loves them so I thought why not make her a cookie that is healthy enough for her to snack on all day long.  However, I have included a gluten free option as well.

I only wish that I could eat oats. Oats are one of the most nutritious grains.  They are a great source of vitamins, minerals, fibre and antioxidants.  They have a low glycemic index, maintaining blood glucose levels keeping you fuller for longer.  Whilst most people who are gluten intolerant are fine with Oats, I would recommend that Coeliacs steer clear of them. Many Coeliacs do not react to oats in terms of feeling any physical symptoms however irreversible damage can still occur, in other words they can be toxic to people with Coeliac disease. Read More

Ginger & Lemon Crunch

Ginger & Lemon Crunch

  • Servings: Around 18 small pieces

A quick and easy, tasty slice using two flavours that complement each other so well - ginger and lemon.

This recipe uses one of Hunter Gatherer Gourmet’s Paleo cake mixes for the base – The Ginger cake mix. I have tweaked this in order to make more of a crunchy ginger base (vs. a softer cake base). The best thing about this recipe (and these mixes) is that you will not be able to tell that this is a healthy, unprocessed and refined sugar free crunchy ginger base.

I combined this with a creamy raw lemon icing which includes the addition of a lemon essential oil which takes this flavour to the next level. Of course if you don’t have lemon essential oils on hand, I have provided alternative options. But I would highly recommend the addition of this oil!”  Read More
